The Government has promised that a working group of ministers with responsibilities around homelessness will consider Crisis' proposal that single homeless people should have a right to emergency accommodation. Over the years Crisis has gathered evidence single homeless people are being failed by homelessness legislation and are often turned away from council offices without the help they need. In lobbying on the Localism Bill-which will make radical changes to homelessness legislation and social housing-we have consistently called for an emergency accommodation duty, so that no one is left with no choice but to sleep rough.
