How can policy and practice more effectively tackle homelessness, and how does it overlap with people's other support needs? With official homelessness figures increasing by 23 per cent at the end of 2010 compared to 2009 and 1,768 people sleeping rough we need to better understand people's experiences of both homelessness and rough sleeping. This Round-up highlights the prevalence of mental health issues, traumatic childhood experiences and suicide attempts amongst people accessing low-level homelessness support services. It brings together evidence from a two-year programme of work on 'multiple exclusion' homelessness (MEH) in partnership with Homeless Link, Economic and Social Research Council, Tenant Services Authority and the Department for Communities and Local Government.
