Government plans to reform planning could backfire and lead to less development, a housing body has warned. The Housing Forum, which represents housing organisations across the public and private sectors, said proposals to simplify the planning system and encourage development could lead to more uncertainty and delays. Its response to the National Planning Policy Framework said the proposals are over simplistic and might reduce the number of houses built. The NPPF has reduced 1,000 pages of planning policy into just 52. Barry Munday, chair of the Housing Forum, said: ‘The brevity and vagueness of the document will create greater uncertainty and has already provided ammunition for the anti-development lobby.’ Read more on The Housing Forum website.
