ALMO Launches Anti-Eviction Campaign To Help People in Debt

An ALMO has launched a campaign to provide advice for people experiencing financial difficulties and worried about repossession or eviction. Stockport Homes has launched a campaign called ‘Debt? Don’t bury your head in the sand’. It promotes the free impartial advice and support that is available to homeowners or tenants who are experiencing difficulties paying their mortgage or rent. The service is free and is provided jointly by the Citizens Advice Bureau, Alfred Newton Solicitors, Gregory’s Solicitors and Stockport Council and Stockport Homes. The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to seek advice at an early stage when experiencing financial difficulties and to not just ignore the situation. It also advertises the free Court Desk service provided by a number of these agencies, where homeowners and tenants can access legal advice and representation. By doing this, it aims to reduce the number of people becoming homeless due to being evicted or having their home repossessed. Read more on 24dash.
