A council has been picked to head up a new housing network to support local authorities deliver sustainable development in their communities. Lincolnshire Council has been handed £44,000 by Eric Pickles to help it run a growth points website which will provide advice - based on local authorities shared experiences - on how they can tackle environment and infrastructure issues affecting housing growth. The move comes in the wake of the government getting rid of top down targets and instead giving power over housing and other development back to communities. The council will also establish an advisory group bringing together local authorities, publicising case studies, linking with the private sector and universities as well as relevant departments and agencies.
