Protestors to Hit Council Over Housing Allocation

Campaigners are targeting a council in protest against changes to its allocation of social housing. Defend Council Housing has organised the protest against Westminster Council in opposition to its policy of prioritising people in employment. The council announced in September that it had decided to give priority to households where the main applicant has been working under a written contract for at least two years. People who have been seeking work for the same period of time will be eligible for extra points if they have been engaged with the council’s homelessness employment learning project. DCH said the change in policy penalised the jobless in allocating housing and called for the council to reconsider. Read more on Inside Housing.
