Social housing developers are being invited to tell the government what regulatory and administrative burdens they would like to see axed. The government has launched the housing and construction theme of its ‘red tape challenge’, seeking views on regulations affecting the private rented sector, social housing, construction, and building regulations. The red tape challenge is intended to allow regulation to be as light touch as possible ‘whilst maintaining the necessary safeguards, and ensuring that the industry continues to provide high-quality homes and builds safe, sustainable and accessible buildings’.
