Campaigners are calling on social landlords not to evict tenants who fall behind on rent payments because of housing benefit cuts. Defend Council Housing has issued a seven-point list of demands, and is stepping up its campaigning action, claiming the government is ‘fuelling a housing emergency’. As well as opposing welfare reforms it is also hitting out at rent rises, affordable rent, tenure reform, and the ‘scapegoating’ of social tenants. Read more on Inside Housing.
