Around 250 council tenants in Hammersmith and Fulham (HandF)
have started the process of buying their homes under the Government's revamped
Right to Buy scheme. Following pressure
from the flagship Conservative local authority, the Government has recently
increased the maximum Right to Buy discount from £16,000 to £75,000. The
council describes the move as a "once-in-a lifetime chance to get onto the
housing ladder". HandF has been
hosting a series of Right to Buy roadshows for interested council tenants to
find out more. The council estimates around 400 people attended the first. Read more on the HandF website.
