its decision to house residents in other parts of the country due to a shortage
of suitable homes. The North East London
local authority has confirmed that it had already housed 14 families in Luton
and five in Margate.
It has also recently acquired affordable accommodation in Walsall - 138 miles
from Waltham Forest.
The council said none of the housing was owned by housing
associations. Waltham Forest, which
currently has 21,000 people on its housing waiting list, said it was working
closely with neighbouring boroughs to ensure residents can stay as close to the
area as possible. Read more on 24dash.
