Bedroom Tax - New Impact Assessment Published

A new impact assessment has been published on the social sector size criteria or bedroom tax. This replaces the previous impact assessment published in February 2011. The main changes between the two documents include:
    *Decrease in the total number of affected households from 670,000 to 660,000.
    *Average weekly loss increased from £13 to £14 per week.
    *Decrease in the number of households under-occupying by two or more rooms from 150,000 to 120,000.
    *Number of households who will lose all entitlement to housing benefit doubled from 20,000 to 40,000.
    *Increased average loss for housing association tenants from £13 to £16 per week.
