Energy Efficiency of New Homes Decreases

The average energy efficiency of new homes in England and Wales has decreased slightly from last year, official figures show.  CLG figures indicate the average energy efficiency Standard Assessment Procedure rating for new homes – as required by the building regulations – for England was 80.1 and in Wales 79.0 in the second quarter of this year.  This was down 0.1 points for England from 80.2 points in the same quarter in 2011 and 0.7 points for Wales from 79.7.
