Housing Provider to Go Outside City

New rules have been drawn up to allow Derby Homes to offer its repairs service outside the city.  The housing provider, which maintains and manages housing on behalf of Derby City Council, took over the 160-man team responsible for housing repairs from the authority nearly two years ago.  Managers have changed the way the team works and say productivity has increased by 30% while costs are down by at least 20%.  In June, Derby Homes said it wanted to be able to offer the repairs service to other authorities for a fee. The city council agreed and terms have been drawn up.
