Families Cut Back On Food to Stay In Their Homes

Millions of British households with children are surviving on less food in a battle to keep their homes, Shelter figures suggest.  A Yougov survey of 4,000 adults for the homelessness charity found 42 per cent of families with children cut back on food last year to keep up payments on their homes. Shelter says this equates to 5.5 million people nationwide. Twenty seven (equal to 3.4 million) per cent cut back on gas and electricity bills to help meet rent or mortgage costs.  Sixty four per cent of families with children who responded to the survey said they were struggling to keep up with payments to keep their homes.
