Campaigners against the government’s
controversial bedroom tax have amassed outside the Chartered Institute of
Housing’s (CIH) conference in Manchester . A large crowd gathered outside the
Manchester Central building to protest the under-occupancy policy that sees
social housing tenants docked up to 25% of their housing benefit if they are
deemed to have spare bedrooms.Tenants personally affected by the
policy spoke passionately about their experiences, at the event organised by
campaign group Greater Manchester Against the Bedroom Tax.
