Housing association calls for more public land for affordable homes

Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association has welcomed the RICS Housing Commission report’s call for enough public land to be made available for building 200,000 new homes by 2015.
If more public land were to be made available, Hightown, who built 425 new affordable homes last year, says it would find it far easier to secure sites to build on.

This would give the social landlord a “head start in working towards its goal of providing nearly 1,000 more homes for local people who cannot afford to buy or rent at market values, by 2015”.
