Housing Benefit: Social Rented Housing - Parliamentary Written Answer

Mr Jamie Reed: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions if he will make it his policy to collect information centrally on how many families have moved to smaller accommodation as a result of the under-occupancy penalty by (a) parliamentary constituency, (b) local authority and (c) region.

Steve Webb: A consortium has been commissioned to monitor over two years the effects of the policy in a selection of local authorities, and the research will include claimants' responses to the policy measure. This evaluation will take place from April this year, with initial findings available in 2014 and a final report in late 2015.
