Landlords Wary Of Universal Credit

According to the National Landlords Association (NLA), landlords remain concerned over the impact of Universal Credit on the private-rented sector.
  • 70 per cent of landlords who let to tenants in receipt of Local Housing Allowance (LHA) are worried about the implications of the welfare changes.
  • In addition, nearly half (43 per cent) of all landlords are concerned about the changes.
  • The relationship between portfolio size and concern over the impact of Universal Credit is clear; those with larger property portfolios are most anxious:
  • 75 per cent of landlords with 20 or more properties are concerned about the impact of Universal Credit
  • 55 per cent of landlords with 11-19 properties are concerned about the impact of Universal Credit
  • 43 per cent of landlords with 5-10 properties are concerned about the impact of Universal Credit
  • 32 per cent of landlords with 2-4 properties are concerned about the impact of Universal Credit
  • 30 per cent of landlords with 1 property are concerned about the impact of Universal Credit
