The benefit cap has been "successfully delivered"
in four London
areas, according to Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith. In total,
just over 2,400 households were capped in the boroughs of Enfield , Haringey, Bromley and Croydon, new
figures from the Department for Work and Pensions reveal. The highest number of
households to see their benefit capped was in Enfield (1,173, representing 48% of the
total) followed by Haringey (643, 26%), Croydon (478, 20%) and Bromley (150,
6%). Other key findings showed:
*86% of capped households had between one and four
children
*78% of capped households constituted a single parent with
child dependents
*67% of capped households were capped by £100 or less.
