The Help to Buy scheme could be hindered by the fact the
number of homes available is lower than levels of demand. The scheme's second
phase, Mortgage Guarantee, has seen the number of people looking to buy UK
property increasing. Santander’s latest survey has found that some 1.6 million
people want to use the scheme to assist them with buying in the next year.
However, this could be hindered by a lack of supply, according to newly
released figures from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rics). Their
latest report stated that 49 per cent of surveyors around the UK had recorded
an increase in the last month in the volume of buyer enquiries. At the same
time, only ten per cent said they had witnessed a rise in the number of people
