Council Uses Empty Homes Order to Help Tenants Affected By Bedroom Tax

Knowsley Council has taken control of a problem property, allowing a tenant affected by the bedroom tax to downsize. The local authority’s strategic housing team successfully applied to the residential property tribunal for an empty dwelling management order to allow it to take control of a problem property, which had been empty for eight years.  Knowsley has secured six EDMOs over the past two years and has a hearing for a further one in March. It claims to be the only authority in the Liverpool city region to be using EDMOs. Read more on Inside Housing.
