A council has written to the coalition after becoming
concerned that its affordable housing policies are "storing up trouble for
the future". Milton Keynes Council has contacted planning minister Nick
Boles to accuse the government making it hard for affordable housing to be
built alongside new developments. Although the council currently attempts to
ensure that 30% of housing developments in the city are 'affordable', the local
authority has "major concerns" that recent changes by the government
has "swung the balance too far in favour of developers". Read more on
