The ‘imposition’ of section 106 will be ‘scaled back’ on
small-scale developments as part of the Infrastructure Bill. Section 106 is
currently being consulted on by the CLG and it has previously been suggested
there would be a 10-unit threshold before section 106 would be introduced on
developments. Action with Communities in
Rural England have warned the proposal would lead to even fewer affordable
homes being built in the countryside. A spokesperson for the CLG said the
department would not give any detail about the size of developments which were
to be defined as ‘small-scale’ and that more information would be released
later this year. Read more on Inside Housing.
