Around 250 households in West Yorkshire are taking part
in a pilot scheme to gauge the impact of universal credit (UC). Staff from
housing association Incommunities, Bradford Council, JobCentre Plus and the
Community Advice Network will visit people in rented accommodation and owner
occupiers in the Thornbury area to see how prepared they are for UC. UC also forces people to go online to apply.
The pilot scheme is aiming to find out if tenants need extra support to adjust
to the changes, while the Thornbury area was chosen because of its mix of
rented and owner occupier households. Read more on 24dash.
