Housing Minister Brandon Lewis has proposed new rules
that would enable a wider range of affordable housing providers to claim relief
from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). Currently, only a limited number
of housing associations and local authorities can qualify for this housing
relief. Subject to parliamentary approval, the proposed new rules
would enable a wider range of social landlords to potentially benefit from the
CIL. To qualify, new homes would need to be let at no more than 80% of market
rent to people whose needs are not met by the commercial housing market. Read
