The majority of private landlords would leave the private
rented market if rent controls were introduced, leaving tenants even worse off
than they are now, the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) has warned. The organisation claimed that three out of
five landlords would pull out of the market, or consider leaving it, if such
steps were introduced. In a survey of over 1,000 of its members, the RLA found
that 75% had either frozen or cut their rents last year, with 65% saying they
intended to do so again this year. Read more on the RLA website.
