Regions should have the power to adapt national housing
policies to meet the needs of their local area, a group of housing associations
has said. Placeshapers, which represents more than 100 housing associations,
will call on chancellor George Osborne in next Wednesday’s Budget to provide
greater housing devolution. Tony Stacey, chair of Placeshapers, said: ‘We want
to see more housing devolution, not just about chopping up budgets but proper
devolution of policy issues.’ Mr Stacey said this would not just include
funding powers, but the ability of cities and other areas to bring in local
