Public support for building new homes has doubled since
2010, according to the National Housing Federation. Across the latest British
Social Attitudes survey, carried out by NatCen, the public were clear about
wanting new affordable homes to be built in their local area. Support for new
homes has nearly doubled from 29% in 2010 to 57% in 2016. This figure rises to
73% if the homes are affordable to people on average local incomes. The
research reveals that 69% of homeowners support new affordable homes, while 18%
would oppose and 70% of those aged 55+ support new affordable homes. Read more
