MHCLG isn’t putting money on a Pay to Stay comeback. The Ministry has put out a statement amounting to a
straight denial of a ‘government source’ saying “options around this remain
under consideration”. The statement said: “We are not currently working on
these plans. The government announced that the policy would not be taken
forwards in a written ministerial statement made on 21st November, 2016.”
