Yasmin Qureshi:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government,
what recent estimate he has made of the number of homes needed to be built per
year to meet demand.
Christopher
Pincher: The Government is committed to building one million homes over the
course of the Parliament, and in 2019/20 net additions to the housing stock
totalled 243,770 – the highest total for over thirty years. The Government
recently published a revised standard method for calculating local housing need
which is used by Local Planning Authorities in planning for the housing needs
in their area.
