Universal Credit Cut ‘Puts 100,000 Renters At Risk Of Homelessness’

THOUSANDS of renters could be made homeless due to the £20 cut to Universal Credit, a housing charity has warned. More than 100,000 low income people in England will be at least two months behind on their rent when the benefit is reduced. Research by Crisis found that the cut, which coincides with the end of other financial support schemes, could be a disaster for thousands of families who rent their homes. Universal Credit was boosted by an extra £20 a week during the pandemic, amounting to £1,040 a year. Read more on the Sun website.
