The government has set up an eleven-member commission of affordable housing experts to find ways to build more council housing. The group will be chaired by Lord Richard Best, and run jointly by the CLG and the Local Government Association. Its members include former Housing Corporation chief executive Steve Douglas, and a former housing minister, Nick Raynsford. The group will examine how councils can deliver homes to tackle the shortage of affordable housing and drive economic growth, looking at issues including land release, regulation, and training. It will report in the summer. Read more and find out who else is part of the group on the Inside Housing website.
