Employment experts are to be sent into some of the most deprived housing estates in Britain in a £12 million drive to get more people into work. The Jobcentre Plus outreach advisors will work with housing associations, local authorities, residents’ groups and community bodies to try to reach more than 15,000 people. The initiative follows three pilot schemes which have been running in Greenwich, East Durham and Liverpool since October. The government will now create 16 outreach teams.
