A new guide has been published by FEANTSA - a European federation of organisations who work with homeless people. The handbook is aimed at policy makers, and people seeking effective strategies to tackle homelessness across Europe. The guide details the priorities and essential elements that such strategies should contain, and presents five goals to work towards:
*No one sleeping rough.
*No one living in emergency accommodation for longer than is an ‘emergency’.
*No one living in transitional accommodation longer than is required for successful move-on.
*No one leaving an institution without housing options.
*No young people becoming homeless as a result of the transition to independent living.
The handbook contains brief examples of existing national homelessness strategies in Europe, and details of how different European nations are tackling the problem. Download the handbook from the FEANTSA website below.
