Localism Bill: CIH Pushes For 'Five-Year Minimum Tenancies'

Members of the Chartered Institute of Housing in the South West (CIH SW) want the Government to ditch plans for two-year fixed-term tenancies and replace them with a five-year minimum term. They are writing to the Government and opposition MPs ahead of the Localism Bill's scrutiny in the House of Lords next week. An amendment to remove flexible tenancies, which will allow councils to set, if they wish, a minimum of two-year tenancies, was defeated in the House of Commons last month during the Bill's committee stage reading.
