The government is to introduce minimum standards for private rented sector homes. Housing minister Grant Shapps has announced that the Localism Bill will be amended to ensure homes let by private landlords meet higher standards. Mr Shapps said: ‘I will not let the private sector be a poor quality alternative to the high quality social rented sector.’ Read more on Inside Housing.
