A council housing development has led to the birth of a
new type of brick. Nottingham City Homes' 400-home scheme will use five million
of the new bricks, called the 'Nottingham City Red'. Named after the very
scheme they are being used in - an industry first - the building blocks have
been selected for their traditional style, which is sympathetic to existing
